An IAS career path is the right option for you if you are looking to be a civil servant with a job that includes the governments policy formulation and implementation. Here is what is expected from you and how you will progress when you choose this type of career.

There is a training that is required when you are selected in this type of career. There are some physical activities that you have to undertake as you learn the laws and policies which is the foundation of the training. You will be involved in this process for a duration of four months. You will then have to spend a few years under probation on a specific region of the country. You will work directly with the government during this time of probation. You will then have to undertake an examination on civil services and pass after this period.

The junior time scale salary range is the first rank that you get after you have passed the examination. You are required to be in this rank for a period of at least four years in order to advance to the next rank. The next level is the senior time scale which pays more and also have bigger tittles. You will have to spend at least nine years on this level before you can advance to the next stage. After this rank is the junior administrative grade where you get pay rice and additional responsibilities.
